Pine Forest Walks Off Crestview For Win On Senior Night
After honoring the program’s six seniors before the start of the game, it was only fitting that one of those guys scored the winning run. Senior Connor Henderson came home on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Pine Forest to a 7-6 comeback win over Crestview on Thursday night, earning the Eagles an exciting home win to cap off the team’s Senior Night festivities.
After falling into a 4-0 hole after two innings, the Eagles (7-9) battled back the rest of the way. Senior Marlin Peacock got it going with a lead-off double to left field to start the bottom of the seventh, and Nolan Rigby dropped down a sacrifice bunt that moved him into position to tie things up. Henderson then reached on an error that allowed Peacock to cross the plate, before John Pinette put the ball in play that scored Henderson.
Peacock was 2-for-3 with a walk and Pinette went 2-for-5 with a run.
Senior Thomas DeFranco went the distance on the mound to earn the victory. The right-hander allowed five earned runs and recorded five strikeouts, and also contributed at the plate by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run.
It was a tough loss for the Bulldogs (6-9), who pounded out 16 hits as a group. Milton Bouchard had a monster day to lead all hitters, finishing 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Lane Alford went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Angel Ortega was 3-for-4 with a run and Rod Bouchard went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
